Week 4 Fun
Aug 8
Dear Parents and Preps,
Well done on a great start to term 3. We are well on our way with lots of hard work. A few reminders for you all.
Show and share is free choice all the time. There were lots of ideas on the note that we sent home. The important part of show and share is for the Preps to understand what they are sharing. It only needs to be something simple, or something they are excited about, some special news etc. Show and share is about the children developing confidence while talking to a group so they need to be able to do their show and share independently.
This week for show and share Chloe had made a song. Listen to it here.
Enjoy.
The Prep Teachers – 01 Track 1
Experience Japan!
Jun 22
Kylie came to school to talk to us about Japan. The first thing we did was watch a video of all the interesting things to see and do in Japan! Then we put stickers on this world map to show all the different languages we can speak in Prep at Bellaire. We were really surprised to find out all the different languages that some of the Preps knew.
Mrs J got all dressed up in a Kimono. So did some of the Preps. Don’t they look great.
Mrs J had to wear special shoes that they ladies in Japan wear. They were like thongs but they had great big blocks underneath them.
Mrs D had lots of fun getting all dressed up too! The Preps thought Mrs J and Mrs D looked very beautiful!
Kylie read us a book and then we all sang a song together.
What did you like the best about our talk about Japan?
Do you know something interesting about Japan?
Can you speak another language?
On Monday I got to go to work with Senior Constable Michael. We had lots of fun. I put a question for you all down the bottom. Leave me a comment!
From Junior Constable Coco.
The front desk of Michael’s work.
Michael’s desk. We did lots of paperwork!!!
Checking to make sure all the torches and radio’s are working!

The car I had a quick ride in.

I was being brave and looking at the handcuffs.

When have you been brave?
Edition two of the Prep News Report! Enjoy.
We would love to read some comments about what we did well and what we could do better in our next news report.
The Police Visit the Preps
Jun 14

We were very lucky today as we had two police officers, Michael and Cathy come to Bellaire Primary School and talk to the Preps about their jobs! We learnt all about the ways that police move around. Sometimes they ride bikes, horses, go on boats and helicopters and in police cars. We got to look at lots of photos of police officers doing their job.

We learnt about being safe on the road. Our Mum’s and Dad’s have to drive under 40 km/h near schools so that no body gets hurt. The police make sure that everyone is “doing the right thing”. At school, we try to do the right thing all the time!
Lots of Preps got to dress up in the Police clothes. We loved seeing the Preps all dressed up. They looked very cool!
All the different clothes are special because they keep the police officers safe and stand out in the dark. They also help us to know what people we can talk to if we need help. The special vest was VERY heavy.
Next, Michael showed us a magic trick! He has a magic wand. He dipped his magic wand into some powder and dusted it over the window…and guess what….
Lots of fingers and hand prints showed up.
Mr H, Mrs J, Miss B and Mrs D put their hands onto some paper and this is what showed up! SO COOL.
We all have very special fingers. No two people have the same finger prints in the whole world!!!!!! WOW!!!
We got to go outside and see a police car. It was very bright. Michael and Cathy turned on the flashing lights and the sirens! Some of the preps got to talk on the microphone.

Haydn’s favourite part was when he had to block his ears because of the loud siren.
Edie’s favourite part was seeing the police car.
Ky’s favourite part was when we got to look inside the police car.
Nicholas ‘s favourite part was getting all dressed up in the police clothes.
Why do you think the Preps are covering their ears?
Do you have a question or a kind comment for Michael? Write it in a comment if you do and he will write back to you!
Queenscliff Discoveries!
Jun 9
Thank you and well done to all the Preps who were so well behaved today! The tour guides even commented on what lovely manners we all had. They also told the teachers that the Preps were fantastic listeners.
WOO HOO! Go Preps!

Today all the Preps and the Prep teachers jumped on to a bus and zoomed down to Queenscliff (Victoria, Australia) to visit the Marine Discovery Center.
After the all the excitement of the bus ride, we finally arrived.
We met our tour guide. She was super nice and taught us lots of interesting things about all the different animals that live in the water.
Then we went into the first room. There was lots of tables we could look at…and play with!!! We got to touch all the different things in the room. There were shells, sea sponges, fish bones, animal fur, teeth and lots of animal toys.
The teeth were very sharp!
Then we went into the next section where we got to put our hands in the water tank to feel the different animals that live in the water.
Some of the animals were hiding in their shells. The star fish move very slowly. The crabs were walking sideways. We saw lots of glass shrimps. We had to be very quiet and very still so they would come out from their hiding spots.
There were so many fish tanks to look in. If you look behind Josh, you can see a crab sitting on a rock! Josh was pretending to be a crab!
Daisy is pointing to a very grumpy looking puffer fish. He was swimming around his tank very fast. When we looked closely we could even see his spines ready to puff up if he got scared or angry! Watch out Daisy.
Next we went to the beach for a living and non-living hunt. It was very cold, but we were so busy hunting that we did not even notice. (The Preps didn’t notice!!!)
There were lots of non-living things on the beach. We found lots of rocks. We only saw one living thing…A bird that flew past.
At snack and lunch time we got to have a play on the playground. We had lots of fun!
The teachers took SO MANY PHOTOS of us having a great time today! They are going to put them ALL into a slideshow and put it on the blog next week. There will be lots of photos of Prep D and Prep B in the slide show!!!
Please leave a comment for the fantastic tour guides from the Marine Discovery Center. We are going to send them the link to this post so they can read all the comments from the Bellaire Preps.
Hi Preps,
Thanks for all your answers on the Puzzle Page. Here is the answer:
Puzzle 2 is now on the Puzzle Page ready for you to have a go at! This time, when you leave a comment with your answer, it will not show up on the blog until we post the new puzzle.
Good luck. This one is a bit harder than the first one!
Language Experience
May 30
Thanks to all the parents who came along to our ‘blogging’ information session. The presentation is below for you to have a look at if you were unable to come along.
What else would you like to see on the Blog?
What was school like when you went to school? Did you have blogs?
I answered your questions!
May 18
Hi Preps,
I answered all your fantastic questions tonight. Your writing is looking really great. I love seeing all your starting sounds. I hope you like looking at my answers.
Do you have any other questions you would like me to answer? Leave me a comment!
Thanks to all the parents that braved the cold night to attend the Ultranet Information Sessions last night. If you were unable to attend, don’t panic! All the information covered on the night is going to be sent home in an information pack later this term. We are really excited about the Ultranet and the potential it has. Keep your eyes open for the info pack later this term and be sure to read the school newsletter as there is going to be regular updates about the Ultranet and Conferencing at Bellaire.
Thanks to all those who attended the Parent Helper Information Session. I have put the presentation below for those who wish to take a peek. Enjoy.
Also, please click here if you wish to view the ‘Reading With Your Child’ Video. It was made a few years ago and the production values leave a little bit to be desired, but the message still rings true!
The most important thing to remember is that reading should be an enjoyable experience.
Introducing Coco
May 9
Mr Holloway is very excited to introduce you all to Coco.
Coco is our new class mascot and will be in our classroom for the rest of the year.
Coco had a great day today meeting all the kids in Prep H and Prep J. He is really looking forward to getting to know all the kids a bit better. Coco made a slide show for you to watch to get to know him a little better.
Mr Holloway is teaching Coco all about blogging so he can read and write comments on our Blog. Coco will also be writing posts when he gets a bit better at using the Blog.
Do you think Coco is going to like being in Prep H?
Do you have a question for Coco?
Today we went on a Living and Non-Living Hunt in the school grounds. We are learning all about Living and Non-Living things in Deep Knowledge this term.
We know that living things:
-Eat
-Drink
-Move
-Breathe
Do you know something interesting about living or non-living things?
